DVD Advertisement

The readers of this blog may not be expecting product promotions. But anyway, my last two movies, Honeymoon (1998) and All the Ships at Sea (2004) are now available on DVD via CustomFlix, at the above links.

The readers of this blog--expectant or otherwise--should know, if they haven't seen them, that Dan's two for-sale films are both well worth watching. Honeymoon is a deliciously awkward take on a relationship, and All the Ships at Sea is even better--a serious and lean contemplation of the role of faith in contemporary life.

(Sorry Dan, but I know you're not the most enthusiastic self-promoter; if you're not going to tell everyone how impressive your films are, I will ... that is, if you don't mind.)

I don't mind! Thanks, Zach.

There was a discussion recently on Girish's blog about Charles Burnett's recent comments on Killer of Sheep: "Everyone has their own reality, their own perception of what life is, and someone living two or three houses down sees things differently...I didn't expect anyone to understand the film." This really resonates with me: I never expect anyone to understand my films. There's something liberating about accepting the role of our own fantasies in our film appreciation, but there's also something isolating about it....

I will, too. Dan's movies are great. (I'd probably prefer HONEYMOON if given a second viewing; I had a problem with the acoustics at Two Boots when I saw it and it dampened the experience slightly. ATSAT I've seen three times now.)

Dan, it'd be great if these were on Netflix. Bilge's NEW GUY is available there, just to indicate to you the scope of their independent-cinema radar.

Thanks, Jaime. Unfortunately, NetFlix doesn't rent DVD-Rs, which rules out all DVD-on-Demand outfits like CustomFlix.
